BERKELEY, Calif. -- Cameo Hicks had 27 points, six rebounds and six assists to help Washington overcome a 19-point second-half deficit and beat No. 20 California 79-76 in overtime Thursday night.
Andrea Plouffe added 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for the Huskies (15-10, 8-6), who won their second in a row after losing six of seven in Pac-10 play.
Devanei Hampton led Cal (18-6, 8-5) with 25 points and 13 rebounds, but was just 3-of-8 from the foul line.
The Bears were only 12 of 26 (48 percent) in free throw shooting and the Huskies were 13 of 16.
Cal had a 19-point lead with 10:56 remaining, but Washington upped the defensive pressure and cut into the Bears' lead.
The Huskies tied the score against Cal with 1:48 to go on Emily Florence's 3-pointer, and took the lead for the first time when Plouffe followed a miss by Breanne Watson with 23 seconds to go.
But Cal's Ashley Walker, who finished with 19 points, made one of two free throws with 6.4 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Washington took the lead in extra time on a Hicks' layup with 3:02 remaining, and never trailed after that.
Walker attempted a game-tying three with 6 seconds left, but the ball bounced off the rim.
Cal, which had dominated the first 30 minutes, couldn't maintain its pace on the boards, and the Huskies had 12 offensive rebounds in the second half. Washington also hit four of nine 3-pointers in the second half, including back-to-back 3s from Plouffe and Florence in the final 2:40.
