No. 16 Louisville uses 17-0 run to sink Syracuse

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Chauntise Wright had career highs of 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Louisville to a 98-50 victory over Syracuse on Saturday night.

The 16th-ranked Cardinals (22-3, 8-3 Big East) struggled early, missing five of their first six shots. But they recovered quickly and used a 17-0 run midway through the first half to take a 31-17 lead.

Angel McCoughtry scored eight of her 13 points during the decisive run.

Nicole Michael had 23 points to lead the Orange (8-16, 2-9), who lost their seventh straight.

Wright, a 6-foot-3 sophomore reserve center, made 7-of-9 shots in the first half. Syracuse had few options to stop her as Louisville fed her the ball down low in the post.

Five players scored in double figures and all 10 players scored as Louisville continued to expand its lead throughout the game with the final score serving as the largest margin.

The Cardinals shot 54.8 percent (40-of-73) and held the Orange to just 17-of-64 shooting (26.6 percent). They also outrebounded Syracuse 52-36.
