Vanderbilt continues hot shooting touch in huge win over Auburn

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Carla Thomas scored 15 points, and Caroline Williams and Liz Sherwood added 14 apiece as No. 14 Vanderbilt beat Auburn 80-45 on Sunday.

Christina Wirth, Williams and Dee Davis each sank a 3-pointer early as Vanderbilt (21-4, 7-3 SEC) raced to a 16-0 lead.

Auburn (17-9, 4-6) committed seven turnovers before Tamela McCorvey put the Tigers on the board with a 3-pointer at the 12:56 mark.

Later in the first half, Sherwood scored 10 straight points to extend the lead to 28-6. Vanderbilt led by as much as 39 points in the second half.

Vanderbilt shot 58.6 percent from the field one week after setting an NCAA single-game record by shooting 76.2 percent in a victory over Alabama. Auburn shot 33.3 percent.

DeWanna Bonner led the Tigers with 12 points.
