TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- With 20 points, Tysheka Grimes led the Mississippi State women's basketball team to an 89-70 win over Alabama Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (17-11, 7-6 Southeastern Conference) used a 21-8 run to end the first half at 48-30 and never let the Crimson Tide (10-17, 0-13) pull ahead after the break.
But the Tide didn't give up without a fight scoring 40 points to the Bulldogs' 41 in the second half.
Kate Mastin had an impressive Senior Night performance for the Tide with a career-high 32 points. Navonda Moore was the only other double digit scorer for the Tide with 14 points.
Mississippi State, led by Grimes, had five players in double figures. Alexis Rack had 11 of her 17 points in the first half, and Bethany Washington led the Bulldogs in rebounding with seven.
