LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Freshman Kalee Whipple scored 18 points, including a game-winning jumper, as Utah defeated TCU 68-67 in Wednesday's quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The lead changed three times in the final 32 seconds of the game, with a layup by TCU's Ashley Davis giving the Lady Frogs a 67-66 lead. But then Whipple made her running jumper with 1.7 seconds left.
"Coach told us to get it out and run," Whipple said. "(Morgan Warburton) passed the ball to me, and I took it to the hole. I just drove."
Warburton led Utah (18-12) with 23 points, and Whipple finished with 18.
The Utes connected on 55 percent of their field-goal attempts while the Lady Frogs made 38 percent.
Adrianne Ross led TCU (21-10) with 26 points, including 18 in the second half as the Lady Frogs battled back from an 11-point deficit.
The Utes had a 34-24 lead at halftime.
With the win, Utah advances to play top-seeded Brigham Young in Friday's semifinal.
