COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Jantel Lavender scored 23 points to help No. 16 Ohio State to an 88-41 win over Tennessee State on Wednesday night.
The Buckeyes (2-0) scored 26 points off 14 first-half turnovers for a 42-14 halftime lead, then opened the second half with a 12-0 run before coach Jim Foster emptied the bench. Thirteen Buckeyes players scored and Ohio State shot 55.7 percent.
Tennessee State (0-1) missed its first 15 shots and committed five turnovers before Meredith Stafford hit a 3-pointer with 11:23 left in the half. The Lady Tigers shot just 30.4 percent for the game.
Lavender scored 12 points during a 19-0 run to open the game.
Marscilla Packer had 11 points for the Buckeyes. Tennessee State's Charisse Hicks came off the bench to score 13 while Kendra Appling had 12 points and five steals.
