Accurate Cavaliers down No. 22 Horns behind Wright

HONOLULU (AP) -- Monica Wright scored 23 points to lead Virginia to an 86-83 upset victory over Texas on Friday in the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Classic.

Teammate Aisha Mohammed had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers (4-2), who advanced to Saturday's semifinals against Minnesota, a 92-80 winner over Kentucky, which the Longhorns (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) will play Saturday.

Kathleen Nash led Texas (4-2) with 18 points, while teammates Earnesia Williams and Brittainey Raven added 15 points apiece.

Virginia shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to take a 41-34 lead, and then hit 55 percent of its shots from the field in the second half. But the Cavaliers failed to make any of their 10 3-point attempts, while making 28 of 40 free throws.

Texas was held to 45 percent shooting for the game, but went 21-of-26 from the foul line.
