West Virginia opens game with 11-0 run, cruises

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Meg Bulger scored 15 points, LaQuita Owens and Chakhia Cole each added 13, and West Virginia (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) beat Columbia 74-41 Sunday in the FAU Holiday Classic.

West Virginia (7-1) jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game and never looked back. Bulger had 10 points in the first half for the Mountaineers

During a a brief stretch midway through the first half, the Lions (2-6) cut the deficit to 26-18 with a 7-0 run that started with a 3-pointer by Michele Gage, but West Virginia ended the half up 32-21.

Sparkle Davis finished with 10 points and Olayinka Sanni had 11 for the Mountaineers.

Brittney Carfora hit two straight 3-pointers and added a short jumper for eight of the Lions' final 11 points.

Carfora scored a team-high 11 points. Lauren Dwyer added eight.
