Boyd leads No. 25 Texas past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Crystal Boyd scored a career-high 16 points and Texas (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) held Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to 26 percent shooting in an 88-41 victory Saturday.

Boyd went 6-for-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range for the Longhorns (7-2). Brittainey Raven added 13 points, and Earnesia Williams had 11 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Elisa Beagle led the Islanders (1-7) with nine points and six rebounds.

Texas had a season-high nine 3-pointers, going 9-for-21 from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Islanders 49-32. Ashley Lindsey and Kathleen Nash had seven rebounds apiece.

The Longhorns took control with a 17-3 run capped by a four-point play from Carla Cortijo that put Texas ahead 19-5 with 14:07 left in the first half.

Texas shot 53 percent from the field in building a 45-19 halftime lead. A&M-Corpus Christi shot 23 percent.
