Wilson lifts Baylor past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

WACO, Texas (AP) -- Danielle Wilson had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 11 Baylor to a 69-42 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.

The Lady Bears (8-1) held Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scoreless for more than 11 minutes in the first half.

Jhasmin Player had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Baylor and Rachel Allison scored 12.

Shaye Montgomery scored 11 points for the Islanders (3-8) and was the only Islander with more than three field goals.

With 11:55 left in the first half, Baylor led 16-8 before going on a 14-0 run to take a 30-8 lead with 2:11 remaining. A&M-Corpus Christi made just its fourth field goal of the half on Montgomery's jumper in the lane with 34 seconds to play.

Montgomery was then fouled by Baylor's Angela Tisdale on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer and made two of her free throw attempts. The Islanders shot 13 percent in the first period and Baylor led 30-12 at halftime. Wilson's first-half total was two less than the entire Islander team.

Baylor was up by as many as 33 in the second half, taking a 55-22 lead with 7:10 remaining in the game. A&M-Corpus Christi then went on its only extended run of the night, with Sarah Davidson scoring six of the Islanders' nine consecutive points.
