COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Danielle Gant had 22 points and eight rebounds to help Texas A&M beat Texas-Arlington 69-55 on Friday night.
Gant also had five assists and four steals for the Aggies (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP).
Takia Starks had 13 points and Patrice Reado added 12 for the Aggies (10-2), who finished with 15 steals, including three by Starks. They forced the Mavericks into 35 turnovers, including 11 by Shalyn Martin and 10 by Tamara Simmons.
Texas A&M scored 34 points off turnovers, compared to 16 for Texas-Arlington.
Texas A&M's pressure defense helped it overcome Texas-Arlington's 40-33 rebounding edge. Maryann Abanobi, Erin Dixon and Martin grabbed eight rebounds apiece for the Mavericks (5-5), and Tiffeny Riles added seven.
The Mavericks opened up a 25-17 lead with about six minutes left in the first half. But the Aggies closed out the half with a 17-4 run to reclaim the lead.
