Gray-Lawson carries California to easy win over Washington St.

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Alexis Gray-Lawson scored 19 points to lead No. 11 California to an easy 99-44 win over Washington State on Sunday.

The 55-point win was the largest ever for Cal in a Pac-10 game, breaking the 35-point margin the Bears recorded against Arizona on Jan. 26, 1987. The 99 points were the most for Cal since Jan. 6, 1995, when the Bears hung 101 on Arizona.

Four other players were in double figures for the Golden Bears (11-2, 2-0). Lauren Greif had a season-high 17 points, Devanei Hampton had 13, Kelsey Adrian 12 and Ashley Walker 12.

Hampton, the Pac-10 Player of the Year last season, played in just her fourth game of the season, and broke the 1,000-point barrier for her career. She played 18 minutes.

Alexa Price had a career-high 14 points to lead the Cougars (3-10, 0-2). She hit four of eight 3-pointers.

Washington State, coming off a 107-45 loss to Stanford, was never in the game. The Cougars didn't get a shot off for the first 3:26, and trailed 13-0 before getting their first points.

The lead steadily widened through the first half, and Cal led 53-25 at the break.

Washington State's 2-3 zone was so focused on the inside game of Cal that the Bears' perimeter players had a series of wide-open looks at the basket. Cal finished hitting 10 of 15 3-pointers, the most the Bears have made this season.
