Naughton's stellar performance powers DePaul to upset of No. 11 WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Deirdre Naughton had 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to lead DePaul to an 81-80 win over No. 11 West Virginia on Saturday, ending the Mountaineers' school record nine-game winning streak.

The Blue Demons (17-7, 6-5 Big East) hit a season-high 14 3-pointers, including three in the final five minutes to rally for the win.

LaQuita Owens scored 22 for the Mountaineers (20-4, 9-2).

Naughton made the last of her 5 3-pointers to start an 8-0 run that gave DePaul a 75-69 lead with 1:39 remaining. The Blue Demons made six free throws in the final minute.

Ashley Powell made a 3-pointer at the buzzer for West Virginia, which hit 11 of 22 3-pointers but was outrebounded 46-32.

China Threatt added 15 points and Allie Quigley scored 12 for DePaul, which beat its highest-ranked opponent since toppling No. 8 Notre Dame on Dec. 11, 2002.

Olayinka Sanni added 15 points for West Virginia and Sparkle Davis and Meg Bulger scored 11 apiece.

West Virginia also had its 16-game home winning streak snapped.
