Black's 20 points, defense help Duke stop Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Chan Black scored 20 points, and Duke (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 12 AP) forced 14 turnovers in the first half of a 72-60 win over Virginia Tech on Friday night.

The Blue Devils (20-7, 9-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) grabbed 13 offensive rebounds on its way to a 36-20 lead at the break, the Hokies' season low for first-half points.

Lindsay Biggs and Utahya Drye each scored 14 points for Virginia Tech (14-13, 1-11).

Duke used a 12-0 run in the first half to take a 30-15 lead with 6:42 left.

Already without second-leading scorer Andrea Barbour, who missed her third straight game while serving a suspension, the Hokies made just seven of 25 shots in the first half.

The Hokies used a 14-7 run in the second half to pull to 59-50, but Duke pushed the margin back to 15 and its lead was never threatened.
