Williams, No. 13 Old Dominion take care of business vs. Hofstra

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Shahida Williams scored 18 points to lead Old Dominion (No. 13 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) to a 91-71 victory Thursday night over Hofstra.

Old Dominion (26-4, 17-1 Colonial Athletic Association) scored eight straight points to take a 17-8 lead, then scored the final five points of the half to give the Lady Monarchs a 44-31 advantage at the break.

Hofstra (5-24, 3-15) got close early in the second half when Candice Bellocchio's 3-pointer made it 44-37, but Old Dominion scored 10 of the next 12 points and Hofstra couldn't keep up.

Tiffany Green scored 16 points and Jessica Canady had 15 for Old Dominion. Williams and Canady each had seven rebounds.

Bellocchio led all scorers with 21 points, and made nine of 10 from the free throw line.
