HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- DeWanna Bonner scored 25 points to lead No. 21 Auburn to an easy 91-53 season-opening win over turnover-prone Alabama A&M on Friday night
The Tigers converted 37 Alabama A&M turnovers into 43 points.
Bonner made 11 of 19 shots from the field and KeKe Carrier added 11 points off the bench in 16 minutes of play. Trevesha Jackson, Sherell Hobbs and Reneisha Hobbs chipped in 10 points apiece for the Tigers. Alabama A&M's Katrich Williams had a team-high 19 points, shooting 3-for-6 behind the arc and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Auburn jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first half, capped by a Bonner layup. A jumper by Erica Thompson at the 17:49 mark put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard. The Tigers responded with an 18-4 run to take a 26-6 lead.
The Tigers were also dominant on the boards, out-rebounding the Bulldogs 50-31.
