TEMPE, Ariz. -- Dymond Simon scored 15 points and Briann January added 14 to help Arizona State (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 17 AP) cruise to an 86-53 victory over Tulane in the second round of the WNIT on Sunday.
Kate Engelbrecht had a career-high 13 points and four steals for the Sun Devils (2-0), who overcame 21 turnovers by shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and hammering Tulane on the boards 41-27.
Indira Kaljo scored 13 points for the Green Wave (1-1).
Arizona State used its defense to bolt to a 45-25 halftime lead.
The Sun Devils advanced to a third-round matchup against the winner of Wednesday night's game between Middle Tennessee State and Oklahoma (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today, No. 4 AP).
