FORT WORTH, Texas -- Helen Sverrisdottir had 17 points and 12 rebounds to help No. 24 TCU overcome a terrible start in a 70-45 victory over Texas-Arlington on Thursday night.
The sophomore guard scored 11 of her points in the second half, when TCU (3-0) was nearly flawless. The Lady Frogs held the Mavericks (1-1) to 22 percent shooting and forced 11 turnovers while outscoring Texas-Arlington 41-24.
TK LaFleur added 13 points for TCU.
Erin Dixon scored 13 points to lead Texas-Arlington.
TCU missed its first 12 field goal attempts before Micaela Younger hit a 5-foot jumper in the lane with 14 minutes before halftime.
TCU went 9-for-37 from the floor in the first half, but the Lady Frogs went on a 18-0 run spanning 5 minutes to lead 35-21 with 18:37 left in the game. TCU forced 25 turnovers.
