FORT WORTH, Texas -- Helen Sverrisdottir scored 17 points and TCU (unranked ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) held off a late rally to beat Sam Houston State 89-75 on Sunday night.
Emily Carter scored a career-high 15 points to help the Lady Frogs improve to 4-0 for the second time in school history. Eboni Mangum added 12.
Britni Martin scored 19 points to lead the Bearkats (1-3).
TCU took its largest lead of the game 68-43 on a 3-pointer from Rachel Rentschler with 10:55 remaining. Sam Houston cut the lead to 85-75 after a steal and layup by Martin with 24.1 seconds left.
TCU shot 46 percent for the game and held a 40-20 advantage in the paint.
TCU led 44-24 at the half.
