OLEAN, N.Y. -- Katelyn Murray scored a career-high 25 points and made five 3-pointers to lead St. Bonaventure to a 63-52 victory over Michigan State (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) on Sunday.
Dana Mitchell scored 15 points and Andrea Doneth added eight rebounds for the Bonnies (6-1).
Kalisha Keane led the Spartans (6-3) with 12 points. Lauren Aitch had 11 points and Aisha Jefferson added nine.
Bonnies coach Jim Crowley praised Murray's grit in the upset.
"There's a lot of people who are good shooters, there's not a lot of people who are courageous shooters," he said. "She wants that shot and very, very often makes them."
St. Bonaventure took a 10-0 lead and never trailed. The Spartans mounted an 11-4 rally at the start of the second half to come within 34-31, but the Bonnies responded with a 12-2 run.
Murray was pleased with her performance, but doesn't think about her stats.
"To be honest, I just kept shooting," she said. "It felt good, but I just kept shooting and they went in. I wasn't really thinking about the points or anything. It was just a matter of the flow of the game and hitting the shots when they needed to be hit."
The win marks the second time in consecutive seasons the Bonnies have upset a ranked opponent. They beat No. 14 George Washington 63-60 last February, the program's first win against a ranked opponent.
