LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Kalee Whipple scored 32 points and Morgan Warburton added 21 as Utah ran past Wyoming 70-52 Wednesday night in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams.
Whipple and Warburton seemed unstoppable at times for the Utes (1-0, 8-6) as they scored most of Utah's points. Going into the game, they combined to average 55 percent of the team's points.Wyoming led early in the game but the Cowgirls ended up shooting just 22 percent from the floor in the first half. Hillary Carlson was the lone bright spot for the Cowgirls (0-1, 8-6), coming off the bench to lead the team with 19 points. Kristen Scheffler added 11.Whipple also grabbed 10 rebounds and was 12 of 19 from the field. She has scored 82 points in her last three games.Utah put the game away early in the second half and they led by as much as 22 at one point.
