South Dakota State jumps on IPFW early in rout

BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Jennifer Warkenthien had 26 points and nine rebounds as South Dakota State (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 25 AP) jumped out to a 12-0 lead and coasted to an 83-56 win over IPFW Monday in the Summit League.

The league-leading Jackrabbits (21-2, 10-1) scored 31 points off 17 Mastodon turnovers. They shot 46 percent from the field and went 9-for-21 from 3-point range to extend their winning streak to seven games. SDSU is 12-0 at home this season, while IPFW fell to 1-11 on the road.

Jill Young had 11 points for SDSU. Her jumper with 15:39 left in the first half gave the Jackrabbits a 12-0 lead. Ketty Cornemann added 10 points for SDSU.

Eva Ivanova led IPFW (3-19, 2-9) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Chelsey Jackson chipped in 12 points.
