BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Bowling Green (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today) and Buffalo combined to set an NCAA record for points in an overtime period as the two teams scored 39 in the Falcons' 89-82 win Wednesday night.

The 39 points surpassed the old mark of 36 set by Maine and Stetson on Dec. 30, 1989.

Bowling Green's Tracy Pontius hit five straight 3-pointers in the extra period. She scored 17 of her 27 points in overtime.

Bowling Green (24-2, 13-0 Mid-American Conference) has won 24 consecutive games. Buffalo is 5-21, 1-12.

The win was the 109th for the Falcons in the last four years, making senior Lindsey Goldsberry the winningest player -- men or women -- in MAC basketball history.

Bowling Grenn set a single-game school record by making 24 of 24 free throws.

Kourtney Brown had 30 points and 14 rebounds for Buffalo. Amie Schiebner added 18 points.
