HARTFORD, Conn. -- Sky Lindsay hit a jump shot with just under 2 seconds left to lift St. John's to a 63-61 win over Syracuse Friday in the first-round of the Big East Conference tournament.

Lindsay had made just 3-of-16 shots before the 15-foot game winner. She finished with 8 points.

Kelly McManmon had 14 to lead St. John's (17-13) and Da'Shena Stevens chipped in 12.

Juanita Ward had 11 points and Chandrea Jones 10 for Syracuse which ends its season 16-14.

St. John's trailed by as many as 11 in the second half before it made its run. Kristin Moore's jumper with just under 4 minutes left gave the Red Storm a 56-54 lead.

Jones hit two free throws with 16 seconds left to tie the game for Syracuse.

St. John's, which came into the tournament having lost six of its last seven, will play No. 20 Notre Dame in the second round Saturday.
