James scores 25 as Georgia rallies for win over Chattanooga

    Associated Press

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Freshman guard Jasmine James scored 25 points and Ashley Houts added 21 for Georgia (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) in a 74-57 win over Chattanooga on Thursday night.

The Lady Mocs (1-2) were paced by 20 points from Shanara Hollinquest and 15 by Jenaya Wade-Fray.

Houts, who grew up 15 minutes from Chattanooga in Trenton, Ga., led the Lady Bulldogs (2-0) back from a halftime deficit.

Chattanooga led 36-33 at the break but Georgia opened the second half on a 14-3 run, with Houts scoring 10 points. The Lady Mocs pulled within four on two occasions later in the game.

Georgia responded with a 12-4 spurt to open a 12-point cushion with 3:53 to play. James capped the run by swishing a 3-pointer from the left wing and giving a quick fist pump.
