BERKELEY, Calif. -- Alexis Gray-Lawson scored 15 points, freshman DeNesha Stallworth added 14 points and California (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) defeated Colorado State 78-44 on Saturday in the Colliers International Classic.
Gennifer Brandon, another of Cal's talented quintet of freshmen, had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Bears (4-2), who had dropped two of three including a 12-point loss to No. 3 Ohio State. Stallworth added seven rebounds and four assists.Cal coach Joanne Boyle needs only one more win to become the second women's coach in school history to reach the 100-victory mark.Meghan Heimstra had 11 points and 11 rebounds, her fourth double-double this season, to lead Colorado State (5-3). Kim Mestdagh added 12 points.
