Sverrisdottir scored 22 points to lead TCU to victory

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Helena Sverrisdottir had 22 points to lead TCU (No. 22 AP) past San Diego State 80-63 Saturday for its 16th straight home win.

Emily Carter scored 21 points and Ebony Mangum added 12 for the Lady Frogs (13-4, 3-1 Mountain West), who forced 23 turnovers.

TCU had eight blocks and 10 steals while limiting the league's third-highest scorer Jene Morris to 12 points. Morris, who averaged 15.1 points, was frustrated by the defense of Mangum.

Morris made just 5 of 19 shots and fouled out with 2:12 to play.

Allison Duffy scored 16 points and Paris Johnson added 12 for San Diego State (11-5, 3-1), which had won seven straight.

After leading 38-32 at halftime, the Lady Frogs had a 19-7 run. Carter and Sverrisdottir combined to make 14 of 15 free throws and three of TCU's seven 3-pointers.

TCU never trailed and led by as many as 24 points.
