LAS VEGAS -- Emily Carter scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half to help Texas Christian (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) beat UNLV 81-61 on Saturday.
Eboni Mangum and Starr Crawford added 15 points each for TCU (14-4, 4-1 Mountain West). Helena Sverristdottir scored 13 points, all in the second half.
Trailing 35-28 at the half, TCU scored the first 21 points after the break to take a 49-35 advantage. Sverrisdottir had seven points and Crawford six during the spurt.
Mia Bell finally ended the Lady Rebels' drought hitting a jumper with 12:12 left in the game, but UNLV could not get the deficit within single digits.
Jamie Smith scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead UNLV (8-12, 1-5).
With the game tied at 27 late in the first half, the Lady Rebels closed the period with an 8-1 spurt. Smith and Erica Helms hit consecutive 3-pointers during the run.
