Italee Lucas leads North Carolina to win over Illinois in Hawaii

HONOLULU -- Italee Lucas scored 25 points, Waltiea Rolle had 13 points and 12 rebounds, and North Carolina (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) dominated inside in an 87-58 victory over Illinois on Saturday in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.

Jessica Breland added 14 points for North Carolina, which held advantages in rebounds (51-40), points in the paint (46-22) and blocks (9-0).

Lucas finished 9-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range for North Carolina (6-0). Rolle came off the bench and had 11 points and 12 rebounds by halftime.

The game was close early before the Tar Heels went on a 16-0 run.

Alex Burke scored 18 points for Illinois (3-3), which was within 65-60 with 8:20 remaining before the Tar Heels pulled away.
