HONOLULU -- Jessica Breland scored 19 points, Italee Lucas added 15 and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt had 14 as North Carolina (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) routed Hawaii 91-57 on Sunday night in the final of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.
Breland, Chay Shegog and Laura Broomfield each had seven rebounds for the Tar Heels, who held a 48-31 advantage on the boards. North Carolina had 24 offensive rebounds and led Hawaii 28-6 in second-chance points.North Carolina (7-0) has won its seven games by an average of 44.6 points.The Tar Heels went on an 11-0 run over a 2:30 span of the first half to turn the game into a rout. Ruffin-Pratt had four points during the spurt, which put North Carolina ahead 42-20 with 5:18 left.Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 14 of her 16 points in the first half for Hawaii (4-2).
