DENVER -- Brianna Culberson scored 22 points, Kaetlyn Murdoch had 16 and Denver upset No. 23 Vanderbilt 70-65 on Sunday.
Britteni Rice added 12 points for the Pioneers (4-4), who shot 56 percent from the field. Denver also outscored Vandy 40-22 in the paint and held the Commodores to a season low for points.
Jence Rhoads had 19 points for Vanderbilt (4-3), which has lost three consecutive road games. Hannah Tuomi, from Thornton, Colo., had 17 points and six rebounds in her first collegiate game in her home state.
Denver put together a 13-3 run to take a 61-51 lead with 2:51 remaining. Murdoch capped the surge with a three-point play.
Jasmine Lister made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Vanderbilt.
