Bulldogs hold off Seminoles to snap seven-game skid

    Associated Press

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Megan Vasquez had 25 points and freshman Janna Graf added 22 to lead Yale to a 91-85 win over Florida State (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) on Saturday night.

Michelle Cashen had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Mady Gobrecht scored 12 for Yale (2-7), which snapped a seven-game skid.

Florida State (10-2) rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to twice take 4-point leads in the second half, but the Seminoles were outscored 13-3 in the final 4 minutes.

Courtney Ward had 19 points, Alexa Deluzio had 17 and Natasha Howard 15 for FSU, which played its final tuneup before taking on top-ranked Connecticut on Tuesday in Hartford.

If UConn beats Ohio State on Sunday, the Huskies will tie the UCLA men for the longest win streak in Division I history at 88 games and can then break that mark with a victory over the Seminoles.
