Phoenix hold off second-half Bulldogs rally

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Celeste Hoewisch scored 23 points, Julie Wojta added 20 and Wisconsin-Green Bay (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) held off a second-half rally for a 66-62 victory over Butler on Thursday night.

Kayla Tetschlag added 11 points for the Phoenix (19-1, 8-0 Horizon League), who went on a 13-0 run in the first half and led by as many as 17 points -- twice.

The Bulldogs got as close as four five times in the second half, but Wisconsin-Green Bay used pressure defense and clutch free-throw shooting to clinch its 10th consecutive victory.

Chloe Hamilton shot 11-of-11 from the field and scored 26 points to lead Butler (13-7, 7-1).

Hoewisch hit two crucial 3-pointers in a 19-point second half and her two free throws with 43 seconds remaining gave the Phoenix a six-point lead.
