Mi-Khida Hankins scored 11 points for Providence (9-11, 2-6), which lost to West Virginia for the sixth straight time.

West Virginia scored the first 10 points but didn't go ahead by double digits for good until Bussie made two free throws with 5:22 left in the game for a 53-43 lead.

West Virginia was coming off losses at DePaul (No. 13 ESPN/USA Today, No. 9 AP) and Georgetown (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 17 AP) that dropped the Mountaineers out of the top 10 for the first time since starting the season at No. 11.
