Tia Magee, Georgetown snap losing skid with 30-point win

    Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- Tia Magee scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Georgetown (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) rolled past Houston 66-36 to end a two-game losing streak.

Alexa Roche added 10 points and Taylor Brown scored nine for the Hoyas (2-2), who rebounded from consecutive road losses at Maryland and LSU. The Hoyas scored the game's first nine points, built a 22-2 lead midway through the first half, and Jasmine Jackson's 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer gave them a commanding 39-9 advantage.

Roxana Button scored 10 points, and Landry Porsche added nine for the Cougars (0-3).

Porsche left the game with 5 minutes, 58 seconds remaining when she banged heads with Georgetown's Samisha Powell as they scrambled for a loose ball. Porsche initially stood up on her own, then fell to the floor and stayed down for about 15 minutes before being taken off on a stretcher. Georgetown officials said Porsche was moving her extremities but went to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Cougars dug themselves a hole by shooting 4 for 28 (14.3 percent) in the first half and turning the ball over 10 times.

The 36 points allowed by the Hoyas was the fewest since they defeated the Cougars 77-37 last season in the teams' first-ever meeting.
