WASHINGTON -- Monique Oliver tied her season high with 23 points to lead No. 11 Rutgers to a 75-54 victory over George Washington on Friday night.

April Sykes added 17 points and Khadijah Rushdan had 13 for the Scarlet Knights (11-2), who begin Big East play at home against Syracuse on Tuesday.

Tara Booker scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half for GW, which briefly closed the deficit to 12 points after trailing by 19 at halftime.

Danni Jackson added 14 points and Tiana Myers had 10 for the Colonials (6-7), who have lost four of their last five.

Rutgers shot 47.7 percent (31 of 65) and held GW to 38.8 percent shooting (19 of 49). The Scarlet Knights also forced 23 turnovers.

The Colonials had the most points against Rutgers by an unranked team since the Scarlet Knights beat Boston College 73-58 on Nov. 16.

After holding a narrow early lead, Rutgers took control with a 13-2 first-half run, going up 34-18 on Oliver's jumper from the foul line.

Rushdan hit a spinning layup as part of a three-point play to stretch it to 40-21, and Sykes' layup made it 42-23 at halftime.

Booker tried to pull the Colonials back in it in the second half, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points during a 13-6 run that closed it to 36.

But Rutgers answered with a 12-0 run, capped by Erica Wheeler's pull-up jumper to make it 60-36.

Wheeler finished with 11 points for the Scarlet Knights, while Rushdan had nine rebounds and Oliver eight.

Baltimore Ravens and former Rutgers running back Ray Rice was in attendance to watch the win for his alma mater.
