St. Bonaventure routs Rhode Island for 16th straight win

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Megan Van Tatenhove scored 17 points and St. Bonaventure (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) defeated Rhode Island 58-32 for its 16th straight win, becoming just the seventh team in Atlantic 10 Conference history to make a perfect run through league play while earning its first regular-season title.

In a game featuring the only undefeated team in the A-10 vs. the only winless team in the conference, the Bonnies (27-2, 14-0) held the Rams (1-28, 0-14) to a season-low point total.

CeCe Dixon added 10 points for the Bonnies, who are 13-0 on the road.

St. Bonaventure, which clinched the No. 1 seed with a victory over Fordham on Wednesday and has a first-round bye in the tournament, led 17-2 and 26-14 at halftime.

The Bonnies outshot the Rams 44.4 percent (20 of 45) to 20.8 percent (11 of 53).

Ashley Rivera led the Rams with 13 points and Sherrie Session had 13 rebounds.
