Jordan Hooper powers Nebraska to Big Ten quarterfinals

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jordan Hooper scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half as No. 24 Nebraska rolled to an 88-56 victory over Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten tournament Thursday.

Lindsey Moore added 14 points, Rebecca Woodberry 12 and Hailie Sample and Katie Simon 10 apiece for the sixth-seeded Cornhuskers (22-7), who shot 51 percent (28 of 55) and went 9 of 19 from 3-point range.

Nebraska will face third-seeded Iowa in the quarterfinals Friday.

Dannielle Diamant led the 11th-seeded Wildcats (14-16) with 14 points. Kendall Hackney and Karly Roser scored 11 each.

Nebraska used a 24-0 first-half run to break the game open. The Huskers were up 17-10 when the spurt began, capped by a 3-pointer from Moore with 6:57 left in the first half. Northwestern went scoreless for 8:10.

Hooper became the 28th player in Nebraska history to reach 1,000 points. She has 1,006.
