Nov. 20 Lake Tapps, WA Auburn-Riverside H.S. Scouts Grade: 81 ESPN100 Rank: 77 Position Rank: 16 | Mercedes Wetmore, visits Stanford and California this weekend Mercedes Wetmore, the 5-foot-7 point guard from Lake Tapps, Wash., has an unofficial visit at Stanford this weekend, according to her former high school coach Adam Barrett. The junior from two-time defending state champion Auburn-Riverside will be in time to see both Stanford and Cal's matchup with Rutgers this weekend. Stanford's 2009 recruiting class is ranked the No. 9 class in the nation according to ESPN HoopGurlz though it did not address one of their needs, point guard. Not landing a poing guard this year will in all likelyhood make the position a point of emphasis for the Cardinal recruiting class of 2010. | ![]() ![]() |
Nov. 18 Hilo, HI Hilo H.S. Scouts Grade: 84 Position Rank: 20 | USC gets point guard Vicky Tagalicod from Hawaii Vicky Tagalicod, the 5-foot-9 point guard from Hilo, Hawaii, has committed to USC and is expected to sign a national letter of intent during the early signing period which ends Wednesday, sources close to her recruitment told ESPN HoopGurlz. Tagalicod joins a well reguarded top 10 signing class for the Trojans. The Hawaiian joins three players ranked in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred - Monique Oliver (Long Beach, Calif./Polytechnic) who is ranked No. 6 in the country, No. 35 Christina Marinacci (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill), and No. 55 Kendall Hackney (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame). | ![]() |
Nov. 18 Long Beach, CA Polytechnic H.S. Scouts Grade: 85 Position Rank: 19 | Kelli Thompson signs with UNLV Kelli Thompson, a 6-foot guard at Long Beach Poly, has signed a National Letter of Intent with Kathy Olivier and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, according to her club coach, Elbert Kinnebrew of the Cal Sparks. Thompson has helped Poly to two straight California state championships; the Jackrabbits are ranked No. 5 in the ESPN RISE Fab 50. "A tremendous three-baller from long distance, Kelli lives to take the big shot her team needs at clutch moments,""Kinnebrew said. "If defenders overplay her shot, she has the power and handles to get to the basket off the dribble."
