Average time of game shrinks again in May

The average time of a nine-inning game has been two minutes faster in May than in April, and now has shrunk by 10 minutes per game compared to last season.

Toronto's Josh Donaldson tied the game with a solo HR in the bottom of the 9th -- his third game-tying or go-ahead HR in 9th inning or later this season. But the White Sox got ribbies from Adam LaRoche and Gordon Beckham in the 10th to snap a 4-game slide. Box score

Nelson Cruz currently leads the majors in HR after his go-ahead blast in the 9th inning today. He actually has one more HR than he did at this same point last year when he went on to lead the majors in that category.


McCann, A-Rod power Yanks past Royals

Brian McCann and Alex Rodriguez jacked home runs to deliver a Yankees sweep of the Royals in the Bronx. Michael Pineda improved to 6-2 after providing more than 6 innings of 1-run ball. Box score


Syndergaard does it all in Mets' 7-0 win

Noah Syndergaard tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings and even hit his first career homer (430 feet) to lift the Mets to a series win and sweep of the Phillies at Citi Field. 1B Lucas Duda added two homers to give him 8 this season. Box score
