NEW YORK -- The New York Mets have made it official, placing star shortstop Jose Reyes and first baseman Daniel Murphy on the 15-day disabled list ahead of their opener against Florida.

Reyes' move is retroactive to March 26. Out because of a hyperactive thyroid, he is expected back in about a week.

Murphy's move is retractive to March 31, the day after he sprained his knee in a rundown. Murphy should be out until May.

Before Monday's opener, the Mets purchased the contracts of first baseman Mike Jacobs, left-hander Hisanori Takahashi and outfielder Frank Catalanotto from Triple-A Buffalo, and right-hander Jenrry Mejia and infielder Ruben Tejada from Double-A Binghamton.

Catcher Omir Santos was optioned to Buffalo. Right-hander Nelson Figueroa was designated for assignment along with infielder Shawn Bowman, who previously had been optioned to the minors.
