The New York Mets signed right-handed pitcher Boof Bonser to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced Wednesday.

Bonser, 29, split last season between the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics. He went 1-0 with a 6.12 ERA out of the bullpen.

A former first-round pick of the San Francisco Giants in 2000, Bonser made his major league debut in 2006 with the Minnesota Twins. He owns a 19-25 career record and a 5.18 ERA in 111 games. He has made 60 starts.
