Dumars not interested in Nets' GM job

Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Monday that he has no interest in the New Jersey Nets' soon-to-be-vacant general manager job.

"In response to today's media reports regarding the New Jersey Nets, I can say that I do not have any interest in a basketball operations position with the Nets," said Dumars in a statement. "My priority is to continue leading the Pistons' basketball operations efforts and putting together a team that is ready to compete and get back on track next season."

An NBA source told ESPNNewYork.com's Rob Parker earlier Monday that the Nets were very interested in Dumars.

Dumars, 47, just completed his 10th full season as the Pistons' president of basketball operations. Prior to that, he served as the team's vice president of player personnel during the 1999-2000 season.

The Nets' current president/GM, Rod Thorn, has already announced that he is stepping down on July 15.

Other names mentioned as a possible replacement for Thorn include New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower, Toronto Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo, Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti and USA Basketball executive Jerry Colangelo.
