Devin Harris out two games

NEW YORK -- New Jersey Nets point guard Devin Harris will be sidelined for two games after he injured his left knee midway through the third quarter of the Nets' 111-100 loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.

An MRI on Wednesday morning determined that he has a strain. He will be re-evaluated after the next two games.

Harris landed awkwardly on the back of his leg after trying to block Wilson Chandler's fast-break layup with 6:20 to go in the third quarter. Teammate Kris Humphries also landed on Harris, who limped slowly off the floor and did not return to the game.

"It's just a little bit stiff right now, a little bit swollen. But all in all it's not too bad," Harris said Tuesday night.

Nets coach Avery Johnson immediately ruled Harris out of Wednesday night's home game against Oklahoma City. He'll also sit Friday night's game at Charlotte.

The Nets trailed by two when Harris walked off the floor with 6:20 to go in the third quarter, but fell apart without him, who entered Tuesday night as the Nets co-leading scorer along with Brook Lopez (18.2 ppg). The Knicks went on a 21-8 run to end the quarter, putting the game out of reach.

Harris scored eight points before leaving in the third. He entered play on Tuesday night averaging a team-high 6.8 assists per game.

"On a lot of nights, Devin has been one of our top two players. It was tough to overcome it," Johnson said.

Backup Jordan Farmar, who entered play on Tuesday averaging 8.1 points and 4.4 assists per game, will likely start in place of Harris against the Thunder and Bobcats.

"You just have to come in and do your job and try to fill the void," Farmar said.
