Taylor's agent says it's not a done deal

Jason Taylor's agent says his client won't make a decision about whether or not to join the New York Jets until mid-week at the earliest.

"It's not even about a contract," Gary Wichard told ESPNNewYork.com. "It's about Jason making the decision with his wife to move up to New York and play. When that's decided he'll have an opportunity to move forward in one direction or another."

Taylor, an outside linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, has clashed with Jets fans in the past, famously saying they took the "cl" out of class. Last Wednesday he arrived at Jets headquarters in Florham Park, N.J., and was given a helicopter tour of the area by Rex Ryan.

He met some of the players on Thursday at the training facility before heading back home to think it over.

One published report said a deal between Taylor and the Jets was imminent, but Wichard said that has never been the case. That report also speculated that the only holdup was Taylor's participation in the Jets offseason training program, but Wichard said talks have never gotten that specific, and that the decision to come to New York hasn't been made.

"I think it's been pretty well documented he was going to wait to decide," Wichard said.
