NEW YORK -- Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco brushed off questions on Monday night about a strange story he sent out through his Twitter account early Monday morning involving a fight with a bouncer at a New York City nightspot.

Ochocinco, at Harlem's Rucker Park to coach a basketball team in the Entertainer's Basketball Classic, would not address inquiries from reporters about the story.

Ochocinco tweeted early Monday morning that he was denied access to a club in New York City by a bouncer, who said he was a New York Jets fan.

Shortly after announcing the denial on Twitter, Ochocinco tweeted, "Damn, I just got into a fight with the bouncer, them damn boxing sessions got me on point, at least the police let me keep tweeting n the car?"

That tweet was followed by another message that read, "Aww man NYPD is so awesome we are all headed to Starbucks after we drop the bouncer off at the police station for assault on me."

Later Monday morning, Ochocinco said via Twitter that he was back at the club with "3 NYPD officers poppin bottles of cranberry n red bull, I went from being outside to having a ball! I luv NY."

Ochocinco tweeted to a follower later on Monday morning that the incident was all a big joke.

"That's the power of twitter," he tweeted. "That was all a joke last night."

An NYPD spokesman said Monday night that the police did not have any information on Ochocinco.
