FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets coach Rex Ryan earned some major points with his wife Michelle on Monday afternoon.

During his news conference, Ryan light-heartedly compared himself to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

"I never realized how similar I am to Tom Brady," the coach said. "The obvious physical appearance would be the first thing. The fact that he's married to a supermodel [Gisele Bundchen]? Hello? Yes, I'm also married to a super model."

Ryan then pulled out a copy of the December issue of InStyle Magazine, showing reporters a picture of his wife, Michelle, modeling a green Jets collared shirt. The full-page picture is an ad for NFL apparel.

"I just happened to turn the page in InStyle magazine, page 329. I just realized that we're very similar in that way," the coach said with a laugh.

Ryan was asked later why he'd read InStyle, a monthly women's fashion magazine.

"You just try to broaden your [horizon]. Obviously, with the wardrobe I have, I'm one of those kinds of guys," he joked.

Ryan's Jets face off against Brady's Patriots on Monday night in matchup of two 9-2 teams battling for first place in the AFC East. In addition to the faux comparison between himself and Brady, Ryan also offered a glowing commentary on the Patriots quarterback, who has won an NFL record-tying 25 straight regular-season home games.

"There's no weakness in Brady's game. He's poised, he's competitive, he's a leader," Ryan said.

The Jets held Brady to 248 yards and picked him off twice in their 28-14 Week 2 win.
