The New York Giants extended running back DJ Ware's contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Ware is the Giants' third running back but emerged as the team's kickoff returner toward the end of the season with Domenik Hixon out for the year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the New York Daily News reports that Ware's extension is worth $2 million over two years with incentive bonuses.

With Ahmad Bradshaw's contract expiring, the Giants have Brandon Jacobs and Ware under contract. They will try to re-sign Bradshaw, who was offered a second-round tender in case he is a restricted free agent after a new collective bargaining agreement is struck. In that case, the Giants will receive a second-round pick if another team signs Bradshaw to a contract offer and the Giants refuse to match.

Ware is entering his fifth season and rushed for 73 yards last season spelling Bradshaw and Jacobs.
