Research Notes
The Patriots have now won 19 straight regular season home games, tied for the 5th-longest streak all-time.
Rex Ryan promised earlier in the week a return the rushing game, and he carried through on Sunday. In the first four games of the season, the Jets ran the ball on 92 of 250 snaps (36.8 percent). Even though the Jets never led in the game, New York still ran on 25 of 53 plays (47.2 percent). Shonn Greene had his best game of the season, with a season-high 83 yards on 21 rushes and a touchdown. Greene also gained a season-high 45 yards after contact.
Entering Sunday, the Patriots' pass defense was the worst in the league against 3+ WR formations (8.9 yards/pass attempt). The Jets took advantage of that weakness, as Mark Sanchez posted his second-highest single game NFL passer rating from that set. Meanwhile, Tom Brady threw the first home red zone interception of his career when the Patriots had 3 wide receivers on the field. [+]Passing with 3+ WR on the Field - Sunday

Despite leading the NFL in receiving yards, Wes Welker was averaging just 7.2 yards after the catch entering Sunday, tied for 30th among qualified players. Welker gained 43 yards after the catch on the opening play of the second half and finished the game with a 12.8 average YAC. In his 50th regular season game since 2008, Sunday was only the fourth time Welker has averaged double-digit YAC.
Tom Brady's interception at the end of the second quarter was intended for tight end Aaron Hernandez. Brady and Hernandez had connected for eight touchdown passes without an interception before Sunday, tied with Peyton Manning and Austin Collie for the most in the NFL. Hernandez finished with five catches for 56 yards.
