Veteran New York City sports voice Jared Max is a co-host of the station's weekday 4 to 6 a.m. ET drive-time slot. Max also handles 98.7's updates during Mike & Mike in the Morning (6-10 a.m. M-F), and is an integral part of ESPN New York's sports coverage.

"Just like athletes we cover, I want to win, so, you can imagine the thrill in joining ESPN's flagship radio station in New York," Max said. "And, I know most leadoff hitters don't hit many home runs, but you can be sure I'll be swinging for the fences every morning I get to set the table."

Max had previously served as sports director and was morning drive sports anchor for more than a decade at New York's WCBS-AM (2000-11).

A life-long devotee of the Metropolitan Area's sports scene, Max was born, raised and resides in New Jersey, and attended Hofstra University, He reported sports at News 12 Connecticut and News 12 Westchester before joining WFAN-AM in 1997, and has also reported for Bloomberg Radio in New York.

During his professional broadcasting career, Max has covered the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Devils and Islanders. He has reported from Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Championships, Stanley Cups and the Olympics. At WCBS, he received Edward R. Murrow Awards for "Large Market Sports Reporting" (2007, 2009), an Associated Press award for "Best Sports Coverage" for his reports from the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, and multiple New York State Broadcasters Association awards for "Outstanding Sportscast" (2007, 2008, 2010) and "Best Local Sporting Event" (2010) for Yankees playoff pregame coverage.

"Jared brings a wealth of experience, credibility and knowledge to ESPN New York," said Dave Roberts, ESPN New York 98.7 FM Radio Vice President and General Manager. "Local fans are as familiar with Jared as his is with them, and each recognizes the other's passion and intensity for all things 'New York Sports.'"
